WHAT I LEARNED DURING MY PLACEMENT AT CAVAN CRYSTAL HOTEL
Completing my placement at the Cavan Crystal Hotel was truly one of the most enriching and valuable experiences I have encountered throughout my academic journey. This opportunity provided me with firsthand insights into the vital aspects of professionalism, effective communication, and the importance of teamwork within the hospitality sector. During my time there, I learned how to interact confidently with guests, facilitating positive experiences, and contributing to the overall ambiance of the hotel. I actively supported event setups, gaining practical knowledge in how to execute plans smoothly and efficiently while also taking on responsibilities independently.
In addition, I developed a deeper appreciation for the substantial behind-the-scenes work required to ensure the success of weddings and conferences. I was involved in everything from planning room layouts to managing guest expectations, and coordinating staff roles effectively. This multifaceted exposure allowed me to understand the intricate details and the careful orchestration necessary to deliver exceptional service.This invaluable experience facilitated significant personal and professional growth. I built greater confidence in my ability to engage with customers, resolve issues on the spot, and maintain efficiency during particularly busy periods, which are all crucial skills in the hospitality industry. My placement not only reaffirmed my passion for working in this dynamic field but also highlighted my specific interest in event coordination and guest services. Overall, this experience solidified my commitment to pursuing a career in hospitality and equipped me with the skills and knowledge I will carry forward in my professional life.

MY EXPERIENCE WORKING ON THE ATLANTIC GAMES
Participating in the organization of the Atlantic Games proved to be an exhilarating academic project that provided me with a unique opportunity to delve into the complexities of event planning from a new and enriching perspective. As part of a dedicated team, we undertook the responsibility of coordinating four distinct sports while simultaneously developing a cohesive branding strategy, creating an engaging theme, and meticulously planning logistics across multiple campuses of the Atlantic Technological University (ATU). This multifaceted project not only allowed me to apply theoretical knowledge but also underscored the vital importance of organization, effective communication, and the ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently.
Throughout the process of organizing this event, I found that my teamwork and leadership skills were significantly strengthened. Working collaboratively with diverse team members sharpened my ability to plan creatively, foresee potential challenges, and develop solutions in advance. Additionally, witnessing firsthand how sports have the remarkable power to unite students from various backgrounds added an even deeper layer of significance to the experience. It was truly inspiring to see the enthusiasm and camaraderie that the event fostered among participants and spectators alike. The entire project not only broadened my understanding of event management but also ignited a passion within me to seek out further opportunities in events and community engagement in the future.
